Jay is the CEO of Mopec, the Oak Park-based pathology and mortuary equipment manufacturer. Jay has more than two decades of top leadership experience. As president and CEO of Hackney & Sons, Inc., he quadrupled revenues and transformed the company into a diversified specialty vehicle manufacturer. His involvement in various aspects of commercial and industrial plumbing, and industrial distribution includes serving as president of USFlow Corporation and Falcon Waterfree Technologies.
Jay has significant leadership experience in the renewable energy industry – as president and COO of Greenwood Fuels and CEO, president and director of EnerTech Environmental, Inc. – producer of renewable fuels from non-recyclable industrial waste and biosolids. He most recently served as CEO of Nextronex, Inc., a manufacturer of utility scale solar inverters. Jay was a former partner for 9 years at Bain & Company.
Jay holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College, where he graduated cum laude and earned his Juris Doctor degree magna cum laude from Boston University School of Law. He was an editor of Boston University Law Review.
